Rafael Andueza was born in Chile. He started painting at an early age, entering the atelier of painter Miguel Venegas Cifuentes in Santiago.
After graduating from school, he travelled to Paris and studied at L\'Ecole National Superieure des Beaux Art.
He then lived for two years in Los Angeles USA, studing art at Santa Mónica College.
Rafael Andueza went back to Chile and continued to paint in a realistic style with painters Sergio Stitchkin and Andrés Baldwin.
Now he lives and works in Cali, Colombia, where he has his studio.
In 2015 he attended a workshop with contemporary realist artist Alyssa Monks in her studio in Brooklyng New York, where he strengthened his painting techniques and his vision of contemporary realist art.
He has exhibit in Chile, Argentina, Los Angeles USA, Italy and Colombia.
He works mainly portraying daily common objects of his studio in a realistic style, frequently using palette knives to activate surfaces in a more expressionist manner in terms of textures and colors. He is loyal to the concept that representation in painting is unique, this means it can\'t be done by another artistic expression. This intention makes him play with textures, light, colors and values that always have a \"human touch\", trying to catch a sense of poetry, magic and spirituality around a given instant in time.
Lately he has been working in portraits and the human figure, always in the sorrounding and intimacy of his studio.
